Commercial agriculture is the production of livestock or agricultural commodities and the offering of those commodities for sale, for profit. Non-commercial agriculture is the production of crops and livestock for the consumption of the farmer and community. Other distinguishing features include purpose, number of workers involved or not involved in overall farm decision making, scale of machinery use and farm size, and relationships with other businesses, including for finance.
